Privacy policy.

Status: DRAFT — pending review. This is a working draft of the privacy policy for msr.uk.com. It has not yet been reviewed or approved by Merseyside Ship Repairers Ltd (“MSR”, “we”, “us”, “our”) or checked by a solicitor. It should not be treated as final or published until that review has taken place.

This policy explains how MSR collects and uses personal data when you visit msr.uk.com or use the forms on this website. It does not cover any other MSR systems, sites, or offline processes.

MSR is Merseyside Ship Repairers Ltd, Syren Street, Kirkdale, Bootle, Liverpool, Merseyside, L20 8HN. You can contact us about privacy matters at info@msr.uk.com or on 0151 944 1443.

Our ICO registration number is to be confirmed. Whether we are required to (and have) appointed a Data Protection Officer is also to be confirmed — this policy will be updated once that is settled.

What we collect

We only collect personal data when you actively submit it to us through one of the forms on this site:

  • Contact form (/contact): name, email address, phone number, and your message.
  • Request a quote form (/request-a-quote): name, company name, email address, phone number, project type, location, timescale, and your message. The form itself does not accept file uploads — if you email drawings to us separately, that email and any attachments are handled through our normal company email account, not this website.

We don’t collect any other personal information through the site beyond this.

Both forms use a bot-detection check called Cloudflare Turnstile. As part of running this check, Cloudflare processes some technical and device-related data (for example, information used to distinguish a human visitor from an automated bot). We don’t control exactly what Cloudflare processes for this purpose — details are in Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.

The forms also include a hidden “honeypot” field. This is a standard anti-spam technique: it’s invisible to real visitors and only gets filled in by automated bots. It isn’t used to identify or track anyone — it simply helps us discard spam submissions.

How we use it

We use the information you submit through these forms to:

  • Respond to your enquiry or request for a quote.
  • Understand your project so we can give you an accurate response (for example, project type, location, and timescale).

We don’t use this data for marketing emails, profiling, or automated decision-making, and we don’t use it for any purpose beyond responding to what you’ve asked us.

How long we keep this data is still to be confirmed — this section will be updated with a specific retention period once that has been agreed internally.

Who we share it with

When you submit either form, the details are sent as an email to MSR’s inbox using Resend, a transactional email delivery service. Resend acts as a data processor on our instructions — it delivers the email but does not use your data for its own purposes.

As explained above, Cloudflare processes limited technical data as part of the Turnstile bot-detection check on our forms.

We don’t sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third party, and we don’t transfer form data anywhere else beyond what’s described in this section.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic to the site (for example, how many people visit and which pages are popular).

Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless — it doesn’t use cookies or any technology that tracks individual visitors, and it doesn’t build a profile of you. Because of this, we don’t show a cookie consent banner, as none is needed for this type of analytics.

We don’t use any other cookies, trackers, or third-party scripts on this site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Object to how we’re using your data.
  • Data portability — ask for your data in a portable format, where applicable.
  • Complain to the ICO (the UK’s data protection regulator) if you think we’ve handled your data incorrectly. You can reach the ICO at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the way the site collects or uses data changes. As this is currently a draft, it is expected to change further before it is finalised and published. Once published, we’ll note the date it was last updated.

This page is a draft prepared for internal review and has not been checked or approved by MSR or a legal professional.
