Skilled Labour Supply
Skilled welders and steel erectors, supplied to your site when your own crew is short. MSR has put labour onto rail, tunnelling and marine sites for Tier 1 contractors including Morgan Est, Costain, Murphy and Laing O’Rourke — jobs where the client needed people who already knew how to work to a possession, not just how to strike an arc.
What we deliver
- Coded welders for MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG on structural steel, plate and pipe — matched to your WPS, not ours
- Steel erectors experienced on live sites: bolted connections, plant positioning, working at height under a banksman
- Labour supplied on day rate or for a fixed programme window, from a single welder to a full erection gang
- Site inductions and RAMS handled before anyone turns up — no delays waiting on paperwork
- Welders who can read fabrication drawings and GA layouts without a supervisor translating for them
- Cover for sickness, holiday and unplanned absence on your existing crew, arranged at short notice
- Direct line to our Bootle workshop if a site-fit issue needs a fabricator's judgement, not just labour
- Supply across rail, tunnelling, marine and general construction sites, not just one sector
How we work
- 01
Tell us the trade
You give us the process (MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG), the coding standard, and whether it's welding or erection. We don't send generalists to a specialist job.
- 02
We match and mobilise
We pull from welders and erectors we know, not a temp pool. Inductions and RAMS sorted before the start date, so day one is working, not paperwork.
- 03
You run the site, we keep the pipeline open
Our people work to your site rules and your supervisor. If the job runs long or the scope shifts, we adjust the numbers without you starting the search again.
MSR runs two factories totalling 22,000 sq ft in Bootle, so labour we send out is backed by workshop capacity, not just an agency database. We've supplied welders and erectors onto sites for contractors including Morgan Est, Costain, Norwest Holst, Murphy, Birse and Laing O'Rourke — rail and tunnelling work where a bad weld isn't a warranty claim, it's a possession overrun or a shutdown.
Where we work
We supply labour out of Bootle to sites across Liverpool and the wider Merseyside patch, and further out to Manchester, Preston and North Wales when a contractor needs cover beyond the North West. Most placements are day rate or programme-length, arranged direct with the site rather than through a third-party agency layer.
FAQ
Common questions.
What welding processes can your welders cover?
MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG on structural steel, plate and pipe. Tell us which process and which coding standard your site works to, and we'll match the welder to it rather than sending whoever's free.
Can you supply a single welder, or a full gang?
Both. We've covered one absence on an existing crew and supplied full erection gangs for a programme window. The arrangement scales to what the site needs.
How fast can labour be on site?
Once we know the trade, the coding requirement and the site's induction process, we move quickly — RAMS and inductions are sorted before the start date so there's no dead time once someone arrives.
Do you supply labour outside the North West?
Yes. We've placed welders and erectors on sites across the UK and Ireland for contractors we've worked with on rail and tunnelling schemes, not just locally around Bootle.
Tell us what you need fabricated.
Structural, architectural or tunnelling steelwork — send drawings or a rough spec and we’ll come back with a straight answer.
