Architectural Metalwork, Liverpool
Rooftop balustrades on the Liverpool waterfront, perforated feature screens, and laser-cut bar fronts for Eric's and BOHO — MSR's finish work, not just structure.
Challenge
Structural steelwork gets a fabricator into a building. Finish work — balustrades a visitor leans on, a bar front a customer's drink sits against, a screen that reads as art from the street — is judged on a different standard, and it's usually a separate trade. Architects and venue owners across Liverpool needed a fabricator who could hold that standard without handing the job off.
Approach
MSR's CNC profile cutting and welding team took each piece from architect's drawing to finished installation in-house: laser-cut perforated screens, curved and straight balustrade runs, corten feature panels, and bespoke bar and stair metalwork for venues including Eric's and BOHO. The same plant and welders who cut structural steel for HS2 portals cut the perforated patterns on a Liverpool waterfront balustrade.
Outcome
A body of finish work now visible across the city — rooftop balustrades with the Liver Building behind them, perforated facade screens, and interior metalwork in two of Liverpool's best-known venues. It's the clearest proof that MSR's capability doesn't stop at structure, and the strongest gallery on the site.
