Steel fabrication, Wirral.

Wirral sits on the other side of the Mersey Tunnels from our Bootle works, and most of the peninsula is 20 to 30 minutes away once you’re through — a short enough run that we treat it as a standard delivery route rather than a special trip. That geography matters because Wirral’s two biggest sources of steelwork demand pull in different directions. On the infrastructure side, Merseyrail’s Wirral Line — including the West Kirby branch — has needed station accessibility upgrades, and we fabricated the step-free footbridge and lift towers for the Meols Station Accessibility Footbridge, installed during night possessions when the line was closed to passengers. That’s what rail work demands: steel built to a fixed specification, delivered to site, and fitted in a set overnight window with no second chance if it doesn’t go up cleanly the first time. On the domestic and commercial side, Wirral’s waterfront and residential building stock — from the seafront at New Brighton down through Birkenhead and the villages strung along the Wirral Line corridor — generates a steady stream of architectural and domestic balustrade work: staircases, balconies and terraces where the steel has to look right as well as hold weight, often on properties with no second delivery slot either. Both jobs share the same underlying requirement: steel manufactured off-site to the right tolerance before it ever reaches the peninsula, because access on Wirral, whether that’s a rail possession window at Meols or a residential road in Birkenhead, is usually tight and always time-limited. We’ve been fabricating steel from our two Bootle factories since 1987, and Wirral’s position just through the tunnels means we can quote, fabricate and deliver there on the same schedule as anywhere else in Merseyside, with steelwork built to spec rather than improvised on site.

FAQ

Wirral — common questions.

How quickly can you get steelwork to a Wirral site?

Most of the peninsula is 20 to 30 minutes from our Bootle works through the Mersey Tunnels, so quotes, site visits and deliveries to Wirral run on the same timescale as anywhere else in Merseyside.

Have you worked on rail projects on the Wirral Line?

Yes. We fabricated the step-free footbridge and lift towers for the Meols Station Accessibility Footbridge, built to be installed during night possessions while the Wirral Line was closed to passengers.

Do you supply balustrades for homes and businesses on Wirral?

Yes — staircase, balcony and terrace balustrades for waterfront and residential properties around New Brighton, Birkenhead and the villages along the West Kirby branch, fabricated off-site to fixed measurements before install.

Tell us what you need fabricated.
